General Motors is the world’s largest automobile manufacturer has been a leader in the global industry for over 76 years. The corporation’s concern about the potential impact of their business has led to a recent surge in development and implementation of cost-effective energy solutions. Their main goal of improving energy efficiency and reducing greenhouse gas emissions is being addressed through the hopes of launching a new line of electric automobiles. One of their most current projects is termed the “E-Flex” architecture. This new family of electric automobiles will share components with some of their more mainstream front-wheeled drive vehicles in hopes that eventually The E-Flex will spread into a variety of brands. This would also enable the E-Flex vehicles to be manufactured in the same plants as the mainstream lines. Their advanced technology initiatives also include fuel systems capable of running on renewable E85 ethanol, hybrid vehicles as well as development on hydrogen-powered fuel cell vehicles that emit only water.
